Scrapbooking Studio projects

Oh yeah!  I just love creating for the BEST scrapbook store in the Quad Cities!  I just LOVED this On Trend line by Crate Paper.  It was WAY fun to play with.  The papers are bright and cheery, plus versatile enough for a boy page.  A win-win for me.  Check out these projects, then head to the store!
Whenever I hear "You are my Sunshine" I think of my daughter.  And well, these papers were perfect to alter the canvas.  I used Tumbled Glass distress stain for the background then added the papers.  Then I tossed some matt mod-podge on and before it dryed added the letters.  Love how it turned out.

Then I needed to scrap my kids and make a bright cheery card.  These papers and embellishments were way fun to work with.

More Scrapbooking Studio projects

Oh...check out these projects.  I just loved working with MME's Winter Wonderland line.  The colors were perfect for winter and Christmas photos.  Plus they had wonderful embellies that worked perfect for a tree card.  And then...I was inspired to make a Christmas tree.  I think they are the favorite decorating item of mine.  I had a blast putting together this little guy with the Maya road spools.  Way fun!  Make sure you head over the the Studio to see the projects and pick up the product.  Oh yeah!

Scrapbooking Studio Projects

Oh yeah!  I'm am soo excited to be designing for the Scrapbooking Studio again!  For September I got the Authentic Halloween line --> Enchanted.  What a fun Halloween line to work with.  I loved the rustic/grunge feel of the line.  It was perfect for my favorite spooks!

We also got some paint to play with.  I had a lot of fun with this stuff.  I couldn't resisted painting a canvas to make this Bootacular home decor piece!  A little paint, some thread and spiders, and viola...way fun!

Then two more layouts and fun card!  And who knew tulle would be soo much fun to play with!  Make sure you check out the store.  There are lots of cool lines to play with!

Washi Tape flowers?

Yep...that is what I said.  I love this tape...it is so fun to play with.  I was perusing pinterest one day, and saw some flowers made out of ribbon...the old fashion way.  You know, were you just make four loops and connect them at the center.  Well I thought I could do that with washi tape.  And vioala...with a little baby powder...flowers!  I had a ton of fun playing with tape and Bella products on this layout!

August tag revealed!

Another round of tag, scrapbook style, has finished at Scrap 'N Chat.  I just LOVE the way the layout progresses.  Here is mine.  I had these photos from a birthday party Kelly went to (taken by Kelley Ruskey) and had just received the October Afternoon Cakewalk line...Bingo...I turned the layout I received and designed away.  Of course, I forgot to leave a space for journaling...again!  LOL!!!  So I had to be creative and viola...a perfect spot for the journaling...the border!

Make sure you come and check out the tag.  And sign up for the September round!

August 1st challenges

Yep..it is the first which means a bunch of new challenges over at Scrap 'N Chat!  Oh yeah.  I'm challenging you all with One Little Word...OLW.  I chose another easy one this month.  Celebrate/Celebration.  We all do it.  We all take pictures at these events.  So bust them out, scrap about them and link them up over at Scrap 'N Chat (link on the side of my blog)

And to get your creative juices flowing...Here is a sample.  I used the word Celebration.
Also...I was using celebration papers, so it was easy to bust out a couple of birthday cards!  I love having these in my stash.  Oh Yeah!

Pinterest inspiration

So...I'm a big fan of pinterest.  It is such a beautiful thing.  What a great way to save all the scrappy inspiration I see on the net.  The problem is that I pin more than I create...seems that way.  But this weekend, I actually created.

I found this on the AC blog and thought I'd make one for each of the kids.
Totally cool, right?
So I was packing up for The Scrapbooking Studio's Christmas in July crop and found these absolutely adorable BoBunny papers and I knew they would be perfect for Max's.  Of course, I had to make one for Kelly also.

So check out what I created from my pin!  Woohoo!!!

Slip and Slide

Lynn challenged us to use those transparencies and I was all over it!  I have a bunch of Fancy Pants ones and knew these slip and slide photos would work with them.  I love the movement I created with the photos.  And who knew you could get 8 photos on a one page layout!

And thanks to Diana for the card/layout challenge.  She has challenged us to create at least 2 cards from the scraps of our layouts!  What a great challenge.  I had been in the habit of this a while ago and for some reason stopped.  I'm so glad Diana gave me the nudge to get it started again!

House Split

I had these really cute photos of Kelly in a Bears cheer outfit and Max decked out in Browns gear.  How perfect is it that he is not happy about that!  LOL!!  Check it out...I used a Simple Stories boy line.  Very fun papers!
I also put together a couple of masculine birthday cards from the scraps.

Happy Birthday and July Challenges

Sheesh!  I haven't posted since June 15th!  What a crazy month it has been for me.  From vacation, to BBQ's, to my birthday...crazy busy.  So here I am to catch up.

Today is my Mother In Law's birthday.  Happy Birthday Jackie...I hope you have a wonderful day.  This card will make it into the mail tomorrow!

Next is my July 1st OLW challenge.  The word I chose was VACATION.  I thought it was a great word since I had these old photos and we were about to leave on one.
And finally, my July 15th challenge... Choose a layout from your past and lift it.  It could be one you love or one that was in the "Thank goodness it is done" category.  I chose one from the latter category.  I had wanted to try the SU! watercolor crayons and I thought these coloring egg photos would be perfect.  I had fun creating the swirls and coloring, but in the end I thought the layout ended up too heavy on the right.  I should have done something on the left to balance it out.  (created June 19, 2009)

So I thought I'd try again.  I used water color pencils this time.

2008 Done

Yep...with this 2 page layout I have scrapped all the 2008 photos that I'm going to scrap!  Yahoo!!!  This one is about our Christmas travels.  We visit everyone the week between Christmas and New Years.  And I did a 2 pager...something I don't normally do.  I also shook it up by NOT lining up the photos.  Also tried layering some PP.  It was fun to try something a little different!

Make sure you check out Scrap and Chat today.  It is the 15th of the month, so that means new challenges!  Oh yeah...you are going to love what the DT came up with for you!

Cinderella

Two posts in one day...oh yeah.  These quilted squares.  I'd seen them before and wanted to try them and well, they popped up again.  Sherrie posted a layout with the squares and a Cinderella photo.  (Original by Stacy Cohen --> Stacy's Cinderella layout).  Well...I had a Cinderella photo from '06 I never scrapped.  I was all over this.

The quilted squares were big time pita.  I couldn't get the folds the way I wanted.  But...after all the work and finagling, I do kinda like it.
Journaling reads:  Our first official Disney photo shoot.  Lunch at the castle with Cinderella and friends.  Kelly is soo no sure about this whole photo with a stranger thing, Princess or not.

June 1st means...

...challenge time at Scrap 'N Chat!  I'm starting the month off with OLW -- One Little Word.  A word that will, hopefully, spark your mojo.  The word I chose to challenge you with this month is "Name".  Come to the site to check out the details of the challenge.  And...here is my sample.

Our family is perfect

Yep...another layout done.  And this is what I'm talking about!  Oh yeah.  I got these papers (well some of them) in a Bella Blvd box sale.  Did the scraplift challenge at Scrap 'N Chat, and viola!  LOVE this family layout.

It is a miracle!

I hope you are all sitting down.  Especially those that know me.  You see....I'm a VERY SLOW scrapper!  I agonize over every detail...photo placement, colors, embellishments...everything.  If I get a layout done in a week...well...I'm lucky.

I think I must have broken through something, because I have gotten 4, yes 4, layouts done this week!!  Woohoo.  I really LOVE the first 2:  Getting ready 4 Max, and The looks, then the Cheese.  The next two I used BoBunny's winter line and well, I'm not loving them.

You see...I feel I went old school on them.  I have not scrapped distressed lines in a while.  I have moved away from Basic Grey and even, ( I know the horror) my favorite MME.  I've been sticking with the clean bright lines of Doodlebug, Echo Park, AC, etc.  So with these papers, I edge distressed, inked a bunch, and well...couldn't find the embellishments I wanted.  Oh well...I guess I'll stick with my new favorites!

The first one is for this weekends blitz at SNC...you'll have to stop by later to see what inspired Surrounded with Love.
This one was done for Diana's sketch challenge.  She had ovals on the sketch...ovals!  Argh...I had to bust out some old tools for this one.  CM's oval cutters and my magic matter...remember that one!  LOL!

Getting ready for Max

Have I told you all lately how much I love the message board Scrap 'N Chat?  I do. I really do.  There are soo many challenges that just keep me scrapping.

Here is a layout I did for the May round of Scrapbook Tag...what a fun challenge!  I got to bust out these photos from '09.  Kelly had a blast helping paint Max's room.

May 15th -- Challenge time

That is right!  Time for the mid-month challenges at Scrap 'N Chat!  And for me, it was all about trying something new...or that something you've always wanted to do.  I did that in a couple of places here.

First the chevron.  Been wanting to make one of those since they started hitting the scene.  Which is unusual for me...I'm not usually a trendy gal.  Then I mixed up my alphas in my title.  I've always wanted to do that also, then never remember.

So...come check out my challenge and all the others!  I would love to see what you were inspired to create!

I hope you all have a great day!

Strign Art Frame

Hey all...Check out this layout.  I'm really loving it.  I was inspired by challenge #1 of Big Picture Studios crop last weekend.  Well, challenge #1, #4, and something I pinned on pinterest.

Let me explain.  Challenge #1 was about using a bunch of something to frame a photo.  Like brads, flowers, bling, etc.  I have done something like that before, so I was sort of struggling with this challenge.  Then challenge #4 came up and it was all about twine.  I think the artist had 10 different ways you could use twine.  I also had recently pinned a bunch of cool string art on pinterest.  It all came together...a string art frame with twine...Oh yeah!  I love the way it turned out!

Family photo

I posted this photo in an Easter post...now it is scrapped.  I was inspired by this post on sketch support.  It's a card sketch.  But look further down, and Sue Althouse created a 12x12 layout from it!  Brilliant.  I thought it would be perfect for a family photo.  So vioala...

It's the First

Which means new challenges at Scrap 'N Chat!!!  Oh yeah!

Anyway...I picked up the OLW challenge this month.  That is One Little Word.  A word that hopefully will spark your creative juices.  Our dear friend Tania is taking some time off to recover from her family emergency.  I decided I'd keep the challenge rolling this month with the word "Memory" in honor of making sure we get those cherished memories down.

When I choose that word, this memory of my mom came to mind.  I just loved the seeing the joy and happiness on her face when we were finally able to connect with Jim via skype on her birthday.  I didn't actually catch that moment on film.  But I had a couple of photos from the day that would fit the story I wanted to tell.

So...jump over to Scrap 'N Chat and check the OLW challenge and others that are being posted today.

Tag, you're it!

Yep, thats right...I said tag!  Every month at Scrap 'N Chat we do a scrapbooking tag, sort of like telephone tag.  The first person lifts a layout which is then sent to the second person who lifts that one and so on.

I started out in April.  I've been dying to post this one.  The original layout used a gingham background with a big circle of flowers and journalling at the top left corner and lower right.  So I came up with this.

I started with the checked background paper and added cardstock to it.  Then threw on a big circle.  The original had soo many flowers that I had to add a couple.  And viola...a layout about my daughters 3rd grade favorites (I do one every year)

Got some projects done!

Oh yeah!  I don't get much time to scrap these days so it takes forever to get a project done.  So I'm relying on inspiration from the web.  The first is a card I sent to an online friend who unexpectedly lost her husband.  I cannot even imagine getting the phone call she got.  Still thinking of you my friend.  I hope all is well.

The next project is for the SNC Weekend Blitz over at Scrap 'N Chat.  I finally actually got a challenge done in one weekend!  I'm soo excited.  The challenge was to use a sketch and a painting technique that was shared.  I also decided to do the card stock only challenge.  Viola...I got 6 cheer photos scrapped...Oh yeah!  And, btw...there should be a button with twine (like the one near the title) on the top star.  It had fallen off when I went to take the photo.

Another Mom Layout

Which took forever!  I think I started this one the week before Easter for Scrap 'N Chat's weekend blitz of 3-30

This is the first layout about the things mom loved.  I don't think I'm going to journal on this one.  She loved flowers, all flowers really.  But orchids and roses were her favorites.

I struggled a bit with the title.  Should I have used Loved or Loves.  I obviously picked Loved.

Easter photos

I finally used the timer on my camera and got a picture of the 4 of us! I didn't frame it very well and it needed cropping...therefor no feet! Oh well...at least we got a photo of the 4 of us.
